Exterior Painting: What to expect?

Our exterior home services are not limited to your exterior walls. Our exterior home services include:

  • pressure washing
  • staining and painting wooden decks
  • resurfacing shutters
  • painting iron fences
  • staining wooden fences
  • and more!

The prime time to paint the exterior of your home is when the weather reaches 70°F. Luckily that is most of the year in the Houston area. Rain is also something to look out for. We recommend avoiding exterior painting when the forecast is 50% chance of rain or more. Once weather permits and you are ready to begin your exterior paint project you can expect the best quality and service that we are known for. This is what you can expect for your exterior paint project:

  • We will prepare the exterior of your home by power or hand washing (for sensitive areas).
  • We will protect your landscape and prime surfaces.
  • We will conduct a thorough inspection and suggest touch-ups.
  • We will clean up the area and do one final inspection with you.

Choosing the right color for your home exterior

Selecting an exterior paint color involves a higher level of commitment than choosing interior paint since most homes require new exterior paint only about every 10 years. It is important to remember that you will likely have the same exterior color years from now.

There are many factors to consider when choosing exterior paint. One thing to keep in mind is that even the highest of quality paint will weather and fade over time. The amount of sunlight that your home will get in the coming years along with the general weather conditions will play a major role in the length of time that your paint color will last. In general, earth tones tend to weather better than bright colors like reds or blues.

If you live in an area that is bound by deed restrictions, you should contact your homeowners association before selecting a color. They often keep a list or swatch of acceptable colors. Getting permission from them beforehand will give you peace of mind and avoid future repainting costs.
